Sophie & Tom's Wedding at Ballymagarvey Village by This Modern Love

Sophie & Tom - Ballymagarvey Village Wedding Photography

Sophie and Tom's wedding makes us feel good about the world. Beautiful people, right down to the core. So much soul and goodness at their day in Ballymagarvey Village last August. Two musicians, with insanely talented musician families and friends. I've never heard such amazing sounds at a wedding.

By the way, dear readers, thanks for bearing with us through the recent radio silence! We fell over into a big heap after building the house and have spent the off-season devoting a bit of time to our own souls, and to the kidlets... So excited to be back in the middle of the wedding roller-coaster now though. 2016 - let's get it on!!

Sophie & David's Paris Wedding - Le Marais & le Couvent des Récollets by This Modern Love

Sophie & David - Le Couvent des Récollets Paris Wedding Photography

Ah this wedding... the photos take me right back to a perfect Parisian summer. Strolling through le Marais with Sophie & David, eating and drinking our way through their favourite spots in the city, the light in the church of Saint-Merri stopping me in my tracks, the wonder of the reception at the disused monastery, le Couvent des Récollets. Our airbnb host was even a clown for pete's sake...

This was our first Paris wedding and it's hard to imagine a better one. Sophie and David were all about their guests having a good time. We love that about our couples. It's never just all about them. A good time doesn't even begin to cover it though. Their wedding was a glorious riot of colour, passion and mischief.

Big thanks also to planners Marie-Emilie and Noémie from Mon Plus Beau Jour for making our job so easy...

Cormac & Richard make history! by This Modern Love

Cormac & Richard make history!

When we shot Cormac and Richard's day in September, we didn't know that it would turn out to Ireland's first legally enshrined same-sex marriage. Nor did they!

But we did know that we had just taken part in something extraordinary. Not because of what the law said, or didn't say. But because of the unequivocal love between Cormac and Richard, and the palpable joy of their families and friends. Their wedding was a glorious, heartfelt celebration. With top hats and canes. As you do :)

Cormac called me yesterday to tell me they had an appointment with the registrar this morning at 8.30am, to convert their civil partnership into a marriage. The first same sex marriage in Ireland!

We couldn't be more thrilled for the guys, and all their friends and family. Couldn't think of finer people to make the history books!
